Traction Rails is the third generation design of wooden track introduced in the Thomas Wooden Railway. It replaced Clickity-Clack Track in 2002, featuring embossed railroad ties and etching in the recesses of the wood to assist battery-powered engines' traction. Most pieces had Roadway Track on the reverse side. In 2018, the connection system will be altered, so that each end of a piece has both male and female connector points, making it incompatible with older track and other brands. Switch points will also be made of a grey-colored plastic.
