- Stafford was originally planned to be released in 2012, but was delayed due to Mattel buying of the Thomas Wooden Railway range.
- The first prototype Stafford features six wheels, his nameplate and number switched around, and no curved edges.
- The second prototype Stafford features the proper four wheels, a darker livery, and updated details.
