Bertram

Bertram is a narrow gauge engine who is known as The Old Warrior for his bravery.

The original versions of Bertram depict him as a tank engine, as this was the intention in the television series according to Britt Allcroft. The 2016 Bertram depicts how he actually appeared in the television series as a repainted model of Duke using Smudger's face due to budget reasons. However, Bertram still has his coal bunker and saddle tanks that do not extend to his running board.
The prototype 2000 Bertram features a different smaller face, a lower boiler, and a rounder cab roof.
The original Bertram design features a black "L" shape underneath his handrails. This depicts a shadow of his television series model's unused nameplate.
The first prototype 2016 Bertram is an altered version of the 2000 version with new livery and details. His tender is an altered version of Ferdinand's.
The second prototype 2016 Bertram features a different face from the produced version.
