Trivia
- The original versions of Bertram depict him as a tank engine, as this was the intention in the television series according to Britt Allcroft. The 2016 Bertram depicts how he actually appeared in the television series as a repainted model of Duke using Smudger's face due to budget reasons. However, Bertram still has his coal bunker and saddle tanks that do not extend to his running board.
- The prototype 2000 Bertram features a different smaller face, a lower boiler, and a rounder cab roof.
- The original Bertram design features a black "L" shape underneath his handrails. This depicts a shadow of his television series model's unused nameplate.
- The first prototype 2016 Bertram is an altered version of the 2000 version with new livery and details. His tender is an altered version of Ferdinand's.
- The second prototype 2016 Bertram features a different face from the produced version.
