Bertram is a narrow gauge engine who is known as "The Old Warrior". He was first released in Bertram with Scrap Cars, and was later reintroduced individually.

  • Learning Curve
    • 2000 (tank engine, gold handrails, the letter L painted on his saddletank in black, and red cab roof)
  • Tomy
    • 2012 (ledge removed)
  • Fisher-Price
    • 2016 (silver handrails, nameplate on saddletank, longer magnet guards, brown cab roof, cylinders, thicker funnel, new face, and added tender)

  • In the television series, Bertram's model was Duke's body repainted wearing Smudger's face due to budget issues. However, according to Britt Allcroft, he was initially intended to be a completely new tank engine. It is likely that Learning Curve was told he was a tank engine before the episode was made and was already designing him before the decision to repaint Duke was made. Strangely enough, the 2012 re-release also depicts him as a tank engine (and also reuses the base model from his original model).
  • The 2016 Bertram is the first version of him to include his tender. However, he still retains his original bunker and his saddletank still does not extend all the way down to his running board like his TV series model does.
  • The tender is Backwards.
