1994 was the 3rd year of the Thomas Wooden Railway line. This was the first year to have dates on the wheels of the engines and the first year the engines did not have stapled bottoms. This was the first year Learning Curve started using round magnets on the trains instead of flat ones, however some trains can still be found with flat magnets due to a surplus of flat magnets at the factory. Most (or all) of these models were introduced calendar year 1992. This was also the first year in which merchandise was produced in China.
